Code of Conduct

Building a Safe and Inclusive Environment

Purpose

The 100xNepal Web Development Hackathon is designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and learning among Nepal's emerging web developers. This Code of Conduct ensures a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone involved — participants, mentors, judges, sponsors, and organizers.

All participants are expected to abide by this Code throughout the event, including any online or in-person activities related to the hackathon.

1. Respect and Inclusivity

  • Treat everyone with respect, kindness, and empathy, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or background.
  • Encourage collaboration and welcome diverse perspectives — healthy debate is fine, but personal attacks or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude during all interactions, both online and offline.

2. Integrity and Fair Play

  • Original Work Only: All code, designs, and ideas must be created during the hackathon. You may use open-source tools or frameworks, but plagiarism or submission of pre-existing projects is prohibited.
  • Transparency: Clearly acknowledge any third-party tools, APIs, or libraries used in your project.
  • Fair Competition: Do not sabotage, hack, or interfere with another team's project, system, or data.
  • Honesty: Misrepresentation of work, false claims, or unethical shortcuts will lead to disqualification.

3. Collaboration and Team Conduct

  • Each participant must be part of a registered team of 2–5 members.
  • Every team member should contribute meaningfully to the project.
  • Respect your teammates' ideas and work collaboratively toward shared goals.
  • Conflicts within teams should be handled calmly and constructively. If unresolved, inform an organizer or mentor for mediation.

4. Mentorship and Guidance

  • Mentors are here to guide, not build your project.
  • Participants should engage respectfully and make the most of mentorship opportunities.
  • Mentors and judges must maintain impartiality — no favoritism, bias, or conflicts of interest are allowed.

5. Safety and Conduct During the Event

  • The venue (Apex Life School) is a shared space — please maintain cleanliness and discipline throughout.
  • No alcohol, drugs, or smoking are allowed within the venue premises.
  • Avoid loud or disruptive behavior that may disturb others.
  • Participants must wear their ID bands and T-shirts at all times inside the venue.
  • For safety concerns or emergencies, contact the organizing team immediately.

6. Communication and Social Media

  • Feel free to share your hackathon journey online — but maintain professionalism in all posts and comments.
  • Do not post or share others' photos, ideas, or personal information without consent.
  • Harassment, online bullying, or offensive posts related to the event or participants will lead to disqualification.

7. Judging and Evaluation

  • Judging will be based on Creativity, Functionality, Design, and Real-World Impact.
  • The decision of the judging panel will be final and binding.
  • Any attempt to influence judges or manipulate results will lead to immediate disqualification.

8. Intellectual Property

  • Teams retain full ownership of their projects and intellectual property created during the hackathon.
  • By participating, you grant the organizers permission to showcase your project (with credit) for promotional and educational purposes related to 100xNepal.

9. Zero Tolerance Policy

The following behaviors will not be tolerated under any circumstances:

  • Harassment or bullying of any form (verbal, physical, or digital)
  • Discrimination, hate speech, or offensive remarks
  • Theft or damage of property
  • Unauthorized access to other participants' systems or materials
  • Plagiarism or academic dishonesty

Violations of this Code may result in:

  • Immediate disqualification
  • Removal from the venue
  • Notification to affiliated institutions (if applicable)
  • Permanent ban from future 100xNepal events

10. Reporting Misconduct

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct:

  • Contact any organizer or mentor immediately in person, or
  • Email: contact@100xnepal.com (confidential reporting)

All reports will be handled discreetly and respectfully. The safety and comfort of our participants are our top priority.

11. Organizer's Rights

100xNepal organizers reserve the right to:

  • Modify event schedules, venues, or rules in case of unforeseen circumstances
  • Take necessary actions to ensure fairness and participant safety
  • Remove any participant found violating this Code

12. Commitment

By registering and participating in the 100xNepal Web Development Hackathon, all participants agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and uphold its values of respect, fairness, and innovation.

Let's build responsibly, compete fairly, and create something extraordinary together.
